On the 23rd January 2024, Year 5 and 6 went on a school trip to Bedfordshire to see three religious places: a Church, a Gurdwara and a Mosque. We all had a great time and the first place we visited was the Gurdwara. We learnt about the Gurus and went into a grand hall where a man was waving a grand feather over the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy religious scripture of Sikhism). The Gurdwara was very spacious.

The second place we visited was the Mosque and we learnt about the religion Islam. They have 99 different names for Muhammad (peace be upon him). Did you know that Muslims pray five times a day and they have another prayer on a Friday? Muslims also fast in the month of Ramadan.

Finally, the place we went to last was the Church. It was massive and more that we didn’t discover. We were shown how they baptize babies and we learnt about the history of the Church. We saw an amazing painting which was called the lady’s area and we learnt about the gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

I have some tips for you if you’d like to go on the Bedfordshire Faith Tour:

  1. Have a headscarf ready.
  2. Pack a tasty lunch ready to eat.
  3. Take your shoes off.

We recommend going here for a school trip when you can or in your free time.
