Year 5 and 6 school trip to Oxford Castle and Prison

On our school trip to Oxford Castle and Prison, we had an amazing time climbing the mound (the site of the old castle), looking through all the prison cells and identifying all the artifacts throughout the years. The tour guide was very engaging – talking to us about the castle and its history. We learnt many interesting stories from the past. One of our favourites was about a lady called Mary who poisoned her father through true love. It was an incredible experience to touch a wide variety of artifacts around the museum. Many years ago, you had to pay to be in prison for your crime. If you committed a serious crime you would have to do hard labour which could last many hours; depending on your crime and the period you lived in, you might have even been executed.

It was an amazing place and we recommend it to everyone!
