Year 6 had an exceptional experience dissecting hearts to learn first hand about the workings of the human body.  One first sight of the lambs hearts, there were many conflicting opinions- some children thought it was fascinating and couldn’t wait to start; whilst others were more hesitant.  However, everyone bravely overcame their worries and all had a go.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I could actually fit my fingers inside the aorta and two vena cava’s, they were a lot bigger than I was expecting.  I thought the hearts would have been bigger, and the aorta much smaller. I used scissors to make my incisions, I found the heart strings as well as the ventricles.”  Pupil comments Year 6
