This autumn, Year 5 and 6 pupils have been delving into the world of ancient Greek art. They began by exploring the different types of Greek pots – learning how each design served a purpose, from storing oil and water to holding wine or displaying at special ceremonies. Inspired by these historical examples, the children sketched and planned their own pot designs, thinking carefully about shape, pattern, and storytelling through imagery.
Using clay, they then crafted their own pots, experimenting with form and texture to bring their ideas to life. Today, the pupils returned to their creations to decorate them with vibrant paints, adding detail and colour that reflect both traditional Greek styles and their own creative interpretations. The finished pieces beautifully showcase their artistic skill and growing understanding of ancient craftsmanship.
