In Buckinghamshire there are 13 grammar schools.

The grammar schools formed together as The Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools (TBGS) to manage transfer testing for all grammar schools in the county.

For a child to be placed at one of these grammar schools, they must sit the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test (formerly known as 11+).

Children who achieve a score of at least 121 in the test are considered qualified for a Buckinghamshire grammar school.  All pupils at Cuddington and Dinton are automatically entered for the testing.  Parents may withdraw their child from the testing process if they do not feel a grammar school is suitable or they have a preferred alternative school.

Testing is early September, at the beginning of year 6.  A practice paper is sat, with the actual assessment two days later.  School can apply for adaptions to exam arrangements, if this is the pupil’s usual way of working. Applications for additional time or movement breaks is submitted early June whilst the child is in Year 5.
