Last term year five took care of five caterpillars and observed them as they transformed into chrysalis’ and then butterflies as part of their science topic with Mrs Reed. The students took responsibility for monitoring the progress and size of the caterpillars each day and recorded the observations onto a large chart on the science board. All five caterpillars successfully became Painted Lady butterflies (a species which is currently endangered in the UK) and were released into the wild on the last day of term. So if you see any Painted Ladies in the area then there’s a chance it is a former resident of the Cuddington and Dinton Year 5 classroom!
