“I am struggling to pay for music lessons”
“I need a new instrument”
“My instrument needs repairing but I can’t afford it”
Does this sound familiar? The Charles Pope Memorial Trust may be able to help you!
If you have you lived in Aylesbury Vale (or been at school there) for at least 2 years, you can apply for a grant to help with the cost of your musical education.
In over 35 years of helping music students we have awarded over 200 grants towards
- Tuition fees – including piano, cello, trombone, violin, viola, guitar, drums, flute, clarinet and singing – but we can help with the cost of learning any instrument
- Exam fees, musical scores and books
- Opera courses
- Conservatoire fees and expenses
- Purchasing instruments – including trumpets, saxophones, violins, flutes, a piano, a piccolo and a euphonium
Application forms for grants are available from the Secretary or can be downloaded from our website. There are no age restrictions and although financial circumstances are taken into account, there is no fixed limit on family income. A reference from your music teacher will be required.
The Trustees meet once a term, so if you want to apply, you need to send in your application form by the middle of February, end of May or end of September to be considered at that term’s meeting.
Are you a singer under the age of 18?
The Trust runs the prestigious Margaret Fripp Prize, which is awarded annually to a promising young singer (aged 18 or under). Auditions are held in March to choose the winner from a short list of candidates put forward by their teachers. Further details are on our website.
