Years 5 and 6 spent an amazing day at RAF Halton yesterday. The focus was ‘Cool Aeronautics’ and the children were given opportunities to explore various aspects of flight, aerodynamics, radio communication and engineering; the aim being to raise awareness of engineering amongst children. During each activity, volunteers from The Royal Aeronautical Society, The British Model Flying Association, STEM ambassadors and members of the RAF, encouraged and guided the children in each of their respective areas. For one activity, the children took to the skies above Halton (in a flight simulator!) and were challenged to land their plane.  The result was an inspirational day full of engaged and enquiring young scientists and engineers.
