Pupil Premium is funding allocated to schools by the government it. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per Free School Meals pupil, is spent, as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils at their school.
We currently have a small proportion of children at school (2,5%) who are entitled to free school meals. This generates an income stream from Pupil Premium of £3,000.00.
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit to “close the gap” between children from disadvantaged circumstances and those above the low-income threshold – it is not linked to a specific child but is to be used for overall impact. However, we are held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils from low- income families.
We have identified how best to use this income to raise attainment and support these children. This money has been allocated in the following ways:
- Extended School Support, for example, to provide after school clubs, residential visits, subsidised educational visits, uniform.
- Targeted support. Additional teaching assistant time provides opportunities for teachers to plan for effective interventions for groups and individuals.
- The provision of booster groups in maths and literacy.

Our aim is to narrow the gap in attainment and educational opportunity between those children attracting pupil premium funding and those children from more privileged backgrounds.
